Choosing an IPTV player: TiviMate, IPTV Smarters Pro and more

The player is the app you watch in; Platinum IPTV is the subscription you sign in with. Here is what to look for and how popular players compare.

Player versus subscription

An IPTV player is software that plays streams and organises channels, a TV guide and on-demand menus. It does not include any channels by itself. Your Platinum IPTV subscription supplies the login that fills the player with content.

Players are made by independent developers. Platinum IPTV does not make, sell or activate player apps, and player licences or premium upgrades are paid to their developers separately.

What to look for in a player

  • Xtream Codes login support, the simplest way to sign in, plus M3U playlists as a fallback.
  • A clear TV guide (EPG) and fast channel switching.
  • Catch-up support if you like watching programmes after they air.
  • Favourites, search and parental controls.
  • Availability on every device you use, and a price you are comfortable with.

Which player for which device?

See the Devices page for setup notes on each device family.

  • Fire TV and Android TV: a guide-style player such as TiviMate, or a menu-style player such as IPTV Smarters Pro.
  • Apple TV, iPhone and iPad: an App Store player that supports Xtream Codes or M3U.
  • Samsung and LG TVs: a player from the TV’s own app store; read its activation terms first.
  • Computers: a desktop IPTV player, or VLC for quick playlist playback.

Stay safe when installing players

  • Install from official app stores or directly from the developer’s own website.
  • Avoid modified or “cracked” versions of paid apps.
  • Never share your login publicly or with people outside your household.
  • Remember that a Downloader code is only a shortcut to a web address, not an activation key.

Quick answers

TiviMate can be installed for free, but many of its advanced features require a paid premium upgrade bought from its developer.

No. Platinum IPTV is not linked to any player app. Use any compatible player that supports Xtream Codes or M3U.
